'It was like assembling a rock band. We auditioned numerous people. We got Eddie. He was our foundation. I knew that once we had him, we had to construct the world around him. The other characters in this world had to interact with him, have a connection with Eddie. So we went to New York and saw many excellent actors over two or three days, one after another in the same room, all with Eddie.

'Eddie has performed certain scenes from this movie numerous times with various actors. When he was with Katherine, there was just a spark. It was great and I thought, it has to be Katherine. And then with Dan... Eddie and Dan are like Laurel and Hardy, so it had to be him. It's fascinating how they just gelled.'
